Baby class (6 months +)
The class begins with action songs and movement, which helps develop a sense of rhythm, help with child’s speech development and co-ordination. We then introduce bright and stimulating equipment to increase muscle tone and encourage balance skills. This is a great time for parents / grand parents etc and babies to socialise and learn activities to play at home.
To conclude we use a parachute and have fun watching the colours spin round and shake light balls and balloons on top.
Babies need to be walking steadily before moving to the next class (usually 16-18 months). We keep some songs the same so it is not too daunting, and find that all children very quickly settle in and enjoy a new challenge.
Toddler Class (18mths - 2½ )
Having introduced our half termly theme, the class begins with a warm up, where children learn about spatial awareness. We then move to relays where they learn to follow a path, listen to instructions and share equipment. We also include a fitness circuit, which is designed around the national curriculum for the school foundation stage. For example, walking along a narrow beam, jumping from a block, target throwing and lots more.
To conclude and for a bit of fun we play some parachute games
Advanced toddler class (2½ +)
These classes are similar to the toddler class but on a higher level to encourage progression of skills and increase confidence
Classes are held at St. Mary’s Church hall, Ilex Way, Goring-by-sea. and Worthing Leisure Centre, Shaftesbury Avenue.
